Disneyland Resort kicks off 70th anniversary celebrations

The magic is in full swing at Disneyland Resort as it marks its 70th anniversary with a vibrant new celebration of happiness, heritage and imagination that will run through to summer 2026.

What began in 1955 as Walt Disney’s dream to create “a source of joy and inspiration to all the world” has grown into a two-park, three-hotel destination visited by millions every year. To honour this milestone, Disneyland Resort has launched a resort-wide celebration filled with spectacular entertainment, special decor, themed food and limited-edition merchandise.

A dazzling new lineup of shows and entertainment

Entertainment is at the heart of the 70th anniversary celebration. The beloved ‘Paint the Night’ parade returns to Disneyland Park, lighting up the streets with over a million LED lights. The crowd-favourite ‘Wondrous Journeys’ nighttime spectacular also returns, enhanced with fireworks on select nights.

Across at Disney California Adventure Park, the all-new water show ‘World of Color – Happiness!’ takes centre stage, featuring a musical performance of ‘Rainbow Connection’ by Boyz II Men and an original track by FITZ of Fitz and the Tantrums. The Pixar-themed daytime parade ‘Better Together: A Pixar Pals Celebration!’ also makes a lively return.

New projection shows like ‘Tapestry of Happiness’ on the façade of ‘it’s a small world’ and ‘Celebrate Happy: A Little Bit of Magic Every Night’ at Carthay Circle Restaurant round out the lineup. Guests will also hear the new theme song ‘Celebrate Happy’ performed by the Jonas Brothers throughout the parks.

Limited-time decor, food and merchandise

The entire resort is dressed for the occasion in hues of blue, purple and magenta, with golden touches and a 70th anniversary medallion adorning Sleeping Beauty Castle. Mickey, Minnie and friends appear in special celebratory outfits at Town Square in Disneyland Park.

More than 70 themed food and drink items are being introduced for the celebration, offering a nostalgic twist on classic Disney treats. Meanwhile, exclusive merchandise collections, including apparel, toys and collectibles, are being released in phases, from a bold 70th Anniversary Celebration Collection to a vintage-inspired Vault Collection.

New attractions and updates

Guests can now experience the newly opened Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, while the Disney Theater at Disney California Adventure Park has launched ‘Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live!’ – a musical show designed especially for young children.

On July 17, 2025 – the official 70th anniversary date – Disneyland Park will debut ‘Walt Disney – A Magical Life’ at the Main Street Opera House. This new attraction features a cinematic presentation of Walt Disney’s legacy and a never-before-seen Audio-Animatronics experience. An updated tribute to the Sherman Brothers and a refreshed verse in the ‘it’s a small world’ theme song will also be introduced.

New additions at Downtown Disney District

The Downtown Disney District continues to evolve with new shops and restaurants. Recent additions include Disney Wonderful World of Sweets, The D-Lander Shop, and the Parkside Market food hall, adding to the district’s appeal for shopping and dining.
