Equinox has opened its second hotel globally, and first outside the United States, at Red Sea Global’s AMAALA destination on Saudi Arabia’s north-western coast.
New luxury inventory in emerging wellness destination
Equinox Resort AMAALA offers 128 rooms and suites across six categories, including two penthouse suites, alongside 21 branded residences at Marina Village in Triple Bay. Designed by Foster + Partners with interiors by Rockwell Group, the property adds fitness-focused luxury inventory to AMAALA, a destination being developed with more than 1,600 hotel rooms across nine resorts.
The resort’s positioning centres on performance and recovery rather than standard resort amenities, with 704 square metres of indoor and outdoor training space, described as AMAALA’s largest fitness facility, and a 1,602 square metre spa built around a seven-circuit regeneration program incorporating cryotherapy, infrared sauna, hyperbaric oxygen therapy and hydrotherapy. Guest rooms include circadian lighting and acoustic isolation aimed at supporting sleep.
Red Sea Global group chief executive John Pagano said the opening added a new dimension to AMAALA’s positioning. “Equinox has built a global reputation around high-performance living, and bringing that expertise to AMAALA reinforces our ambition to create a destination where wellness, sport and luxury come together in a truly differentiated way,” Pagano said.
Four dining concepts and marina access round out offering
The resort includes four dining venues — Mint + Co, Soho Souk, Sama Ai and EQX Den — alongside four outdoor pools, including a rooftop magnesium salt pool overlooking Triple Bay, the AMAALA Marina and AMAALA Yacht Club.
For Australian advisors building Middle East luxury itineraries, the opening extends AMAALA’s resort count as the wider destination continues its rollout, giving agents an additional wellness-focused property to position alongside established Red Sea Global product such as The Red Sea, which opened in 2023.
