Martin Edwards and Cameron Neill, who most recently worked together at Bench Africa where they successively held the position of general manager, have launched a brand new travel company, The Explorer Society.
The company will offer tailor-made holidays and private tours for explorers seeking authentic experiences around the world.
“Current COVID-19 conditions aside, the world is more accessible than ever. By launching The Explorer Society we can truly offer destinations and experiences that we, and our travel community, are passionate about. We can be as exploratory in our product line as our travellers are with their travel interests,” said Neill.
The fully-remote company is focused on developing modern and innovative ways to travel and to ensure smooth and seamless journeys for the post pandemic traveller.
“We will begin by offering a range of tailored explorations in a variety of travel styles throughout Africa, the Middle East and South America,” said Edwards. “Further destinations are also currently in the planning phase, as well as a range of utterly unique exploration experiences …
“In 2022 there will be an enormous pent up demand for travel and we want to use our lengthy travel experience to bring back the fun into travel. We are passionate about avoiding the crowds and manufactured experiences. We prefer the real, the raw and the revealing. All that is needed is curiosity and a desire to take advantage of life’s opportunities. We believe in travel as a force for good, both providing opportunities for remote communities and also building larger communities around learning, cultural understanding and shared experience. We believe in sustainability and the future of what travel could be.”
Neill said the pandemic has afforded the company a great chance to do something new and improved.
“Exploration isn’t simply grand feats of polar or naval navigation but, at its core, is simply travelling through an unfamiliar place in order to learn about it. We prefer to explore a destination and all of its elements, nuances and lessons.”
