Explore Worldwide launches total solar eclipse tours

A new era of adventure travel is on the horizon as Explore Worldwide unveils a trio of small-group tours designed around the next total solar eclipse, set to darken skies over parts of Europe in August 2026.

Now available for agent bookings across Australia, the celestial-themed itineraries offer a once-in-a-lifetime travel experience.

Timed to coincide with the solar eclipse on 12 August 2026, the new tours will take travellers to prime viewing locations in Northern Spain and Iceland. Each group will be joined by a solar expert to enrich the experience with real-time insight and education. Eclipse viewing glasses are also included to ensure a safe and immersive encounter with this rare astronomical event.

A rare astronomical spectacle

On 12 August 2026, the moon will completely cover the sun, creating a total solar eclipse visible from selected parts of Iceland and Northern Spain. During the brief phase of totality — lasting up to two minutes — the sky will dramatically darken, offering travellers a rare opportunity to witness one of nature’s most extraordinary events.

Ben Ittensohn, Regional Director, AUNZ at Explore Worldwide, said the eclipse tours present an exciting opportunity for travel agents: “These departures are well positioned to capture the imagination of curious travellers looking for something extraordinary.”
