FCM Travel is expanding its proprietary booking platform with a new AI-powered conversational booking feature designed to help corporate travellers book faster while providing greater confidence in booking decisions.
The enhancement enables travellers to describe their travel requirements in natural language and receive personalised recommendations based on company travel policy, traveller profiles, previous trips, loyalty status and preferred routes.
AI recommendations backed by context
The new capability is powered by FCM’s existing intelligence layer, Sam, which builds a richer traveller profile through every interaction.
Each recommendation includes an explanation outlining why it has been suggested, such as compliance with company policy, alignment with previous travel patterns or loyalty program preferences.
Jessica Dunderdale, Global Head of Product at FCM Travel, said the technology was designed to improve trust as well as convenience.
“Conversational booking only works if travellers trust what they’re being shown, and that trust comes from context, not just convenience,” she said.
“Every recommendation explains itself so that travellers can act on it with confidence, and travel managers see adoption follow as a result.”
Integrated into everyday workplace tools
The conversational booking feature will initially be available through Microsoft Teams and Slack, with Model Context Protocol (MCP) technology enabling future integration with AI platforms including ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini without requiring travellers to open a separate application.
FCM said the enhancement is expected to improve in-program booking rates and provide travel managers with stronger data capture while maintaining traveller compliance.
The same intelligence also feeds FCM’s reporting and analytics capabilities, helping identify spending trends, policy compliance and potential disruption risks as they emerge.
John Morhous, Chief Experience Officer at FCM Travel, said the technology was intended to complement, rather than replace, the role of travel consultants.
“We didn’t build FCM’s tech ecosystem to replace our consultants’ judgment. We built it to take the routine work off their plate, so they can focus on the moments that actually need a person,” he said.
