Fiji Airways adds Western Sydney route

Fiji Airways will launch direct flights between Nadi and Western Sydney International Airport from 19 March 2027, becoming the first international carrier to serve the new airport.

Three weekly services add new Sydney gateway

The route will operate three times weekly, on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, using Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, adding more than 53,000 seats annually between Fiji and the Western Sydney region. The new service will complement Fiji Airways’ existing double-daily flights between Nadi and Sydney Kingsford Smith, giving the airline up to three daily services into the greater Sydney region once the route launches, more flight times than any other carrier offers between the two markets.

The schedule includes an early evening departure from Nadi and an early morning arrival back into Fiji, supporting onward connections within Fiji and to Tonga, Samoa and other Pacific destinations on Fiji Airways’ network. Fiji Airways managing director and chief executive Paul Scurrah said Western Sydney’s growth and its Fijian community made the route a natural addition. “A direct route there means easier, more affordable access for Australians looking to holiday in Fiji – which means more visitors, more jobs and more opportunities for our tourism industry,” Scurrah said.

Launch coincides with record Fiji visitor numbers

The announcement follows Fiji surpassing one million visitors in a 12-month period for the first time, alongside a record month of arrivals in July. Western Sydney Airport chief executive Simon Hickey said the route would serve a growing population base, noting the region is home to more than 70 per cent of Sydney’s Fijian community.

Introductory return fares are on sale from 9 to 23 September 2026, with Lite Economy from $899 FJD and Business Class from $3,299 FJD, for travel between 19 March and 5 August 2027. Fares are bookable via FijiAirways.com or through participating travel agents, giving advisors an early window to secure allocation ahead of the new route’s launch.
