Fred. Olsen unveils new 71-night Mediterranean cruise in 2026

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines has launched a new 71-night grand exploration of the Mediterranean, offering an immersive journey through 48 ports across Europe, North Africa and the Middle East aboard its classic small ship, Balmoral.

Departing Southampton on 30 September 2026, the round-trip voyage sails through the entire Mediterranean region from Spain to Cyprus and Egypt, timed to avoid peak crowds while capturing the essence of each destination in autumn. Guests will return to the UK on 10 December 2026.

The cruise is now available to book in Australia through Fred. Olsen’s exclusive local partner, Cruise Traveller, with earlybird pricing available until 31 May 2025.

Hidden gems and iconic cities

Balmoral, which accommodates just 1,325 guests, will call at iconic ports such as Istanbul, Athens, Dubrovnik and Valletta, alongside lesser-known gems like Marmaris in Turkey, Kavala in Greece and the off-the-beaten-path islands of Syros, Lesbos and Samos.

The itinerary also features the Spanish, Italian and Croatian rivieras, the historical cities of Cyprus, Alexandria for access to the Egyptian pyramids, the markets of Morocco and the volcanic Canary Islands. An overnight stay in eight ports provides the chance for deeper discovery.

Scenic cruising and cultural moments

Guests will enjoy scenic sail-bys through Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor, along the Amalfi Coast, past Italy’s Stromboli volcano, the Temple of Poseidon and Greece’s dramatic Mt Athos monasteries. Cultural immersion is key to this journey, with experiences ranging from Croatian klapa music to Greek culinary delights.

Fred. Olsen’s ships are known for their relaxed ambience, traditional design, and ability to access smaller ports often missed by larger vessels. Balmoral offers spacious lounges, open promenades, two pools and panoramic restaurants for a refined small ship experience.

Special launch offer for Australian travellers

Until 31 May 2025, this 71-night cruise is available from £7,999 per person, twin share, in an Inside Cabin. Flights from Australia are additional and early booking is recommended due to high demand.
