Glasshouse Mountains Ecolodge, a 12-room boutique retreat adjacent to Mt Tibrogargan on the Sunshine Coast, has relaunched under new owner Chris Pires, who has invested in room and garden upgrades across the property.
Accommodation spans restored train carriages and converted church
The property’s accommodation includes restored Victorian and Queensland state train carriages with kitchenettes, a converted historic church, garden bungalows and forest family rooms sleeping up to four guests. A separate converted railway carriage serves as a communal dining venue, with guests able to self-cater using a fully equipped kitchen, outdoor barbecue and undercover dining area, alongside access to local produce and nearby restaurants in Beerwah.
Chris Pires, the property’s new owner, said the retreat’s distinctive accommodation and connection to nature position it as a point of difference on the Sunshine Coast. “In an era where travellers value experiences and authenticity, we offer a ‘one of a kind’ stay on the Sunshine Coast,” Pires said.
Property positioned for group bookings and nature-based tourism
The lodge has already attracted multi-generational family groups, special interest groups and wedding parties booking out the full retreat. Its gardens include a coffee plantation and around 60 fruit trees, alongside bushtucker plants reflecting the property’s connection to Kabi Kabi Country, the traditional owners of the region. Pires said a coffee discovery tour is planned as a future addition, drawing on coffee plants grown on the property for the past 20 years.
The property is located 10 minutes from Australia Zoo, giving agents a straightforward pairing option for family-focused Sunshine Coast hinterland itineraries. For advisors selling group accommodation, weddings or nature-based stays, the lodge’s whole-property booking capability and distinctive room types offer a differentiated option from standard resort or hotel product in the region.
