New Zealand’s premier business events showcase, MEETINGS 2025, officially launches today, 10 June, with a welcome function for 700 delegates at Eden Park, Auckland. The event will be opened by Hon Louise Upston, Minister for Tourism and Hospitality, alongside Auckland Mayor Wayne Brown.
Their attendance underscores strong government support for the business events industry, which continues to emerge as a high-value contributor to the visitor economy and a key pillar in New Zealand’s broader growth strategy.
Over two days at Auckland Showgrounds on 11 and 12 June, more than 550 hosted buyers are set to meet with exhibitors across 253 stands representing 18 regions of New Zealand. This includes 35 first-time exhibitors from across the events spectrum – venues, hotels, production teams, caterers, and attractions.
The 2025 edition also welcomes a record 126 buyers and media from Australia, 64 of whom will extend their stay to explore destinations such as Christchurch, Queenstown, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Waikato.
Complementing the main trade show are concurrent knowledge-sharing sessions and a leadership summit designed to equip event organisers with insights and ideas. This year’s programme reflects an industry in evolution – embracing fresh thinking and new partnerships.
New Zealand’s rapidly developing infrastructure, including Te Pae Christchurch, Tākina Wellington, and the upcoming NZICC in Auckland, reinforces the country’s position as a world-class destination for conferences and events. These venues are expected to contribute significantly to job creation, hotel occupancy and direct economic spend.
