In a vibrant celebration set against Sydney’s Vivid lights, the Hong Kong Tourism Board (HKTB) welcomed travel industry and media partners to Cruise Bar, Circular Quay, for an evening of gratitude and celebration.
HKTB highlighted the impressive resurgence of Hong Kong tourism, revealing consecutive year-on-year growth from the Australian market. April and May 2025 recorded 37 per cent and 38 per cent increases respectively, surpassing an already strong 32 per cent growth in Q1.
Karen Macmillan, HKTB Director for Australia, New Zealand & South Pacific, said the event was a way to recognise the vital role trade partners have played in the destination’s recovery.
“Tonight is not just a celebration of Hong Kong and all it has to offer but also a huge, heartfelt thank you to our incredible industry partners for their ongoing support and promotion of Hong Kong,” she said.
“We look forward to continuing to work with all our partners to keep this momentum going and to getting even more Australians to Hong Kong.”

Boosted air capacity strengthens momentum
The outlook for travel to Hong Kong continues to brighten, with air capacity set to increase in the coming months. Hong Kong Airlines will commence daily direct flights from Sydney starting 21 June 2025, while Cathay Pacific is reintroducing non-stop seasonal services from Adelaide on 11 November and Cairns from 9 December.
A night inspired by the city that never dims
Reflecting Hong Kong’s famed skyline and nightly light show, A Symphony of Lights, guests were treated to panoramic harbour views and an immersive atmosphere echoing the energy of the city itself. The event served not only as a showcase of Hong Kong’s vibrancy but also as a call to keep the destination top of mind as demand continues to rise.
