While the buzzing town of Byron Bay is just up the road for those who want to explore further, you do have everything you need right on your doorstep at Elements of Byron.

About the Hotel

Elements of Byron opened its doors in 2016, emerging as a flagship luxury resort that celebrates the natural beauty and cultural richness of Byron Bay. Built on a 50-acre parcel of beachfront land at Belongil Beach, the resort was designed with sustainability and local heritage in mind. The development was carefully planned to preserve the native ecosystem, with architecture and landscaping that reflect the coastal dunes, wetlands, and eucalyptus forest surrounding the property.

Drawing inspiration from the four elemental forces—earth, air, fire and water—the resort integrates these themes into its design, offering guests a stay that connects them deeply with the environment and the spirit of the region.

Elements of Byron delivers an exceptional getaway that combines luxury accommodation, exquisite dining, and rejuvenating wellness experiences. Its commitment to sustainability and celebration of local culture make it a standout destination for travellers seeking a unique and enriching stay.

Elements of Byron boasts a variety of facilities, including an adults-only pool, a family-friendly lagoon pool, and direct beach access. The resort also offers wellness activities such as yoga sessions and guided rainforest walks, catering to guests seeking both relaxation and adventure.

My stay was in Dunal Villa number 29, a stones throw away from the beachfront meaning I could hear the waves when I went to sleep at night. The Villa is cosy and even has a fireplace in the lounge area – which was cold enough to use in the evenings. A spacious bathroom leads onto an enclosed but open to the elements bathtub that is big enough for two – very romantic. The lux Aesop bathroom amenities elevated my bathroom experience. Falling into the massive king sized bed in the evening was an absolute delight.

The Dining

Dining at Elements of Byron is a culinary journey, offering a range of on-site venues to satisfy every craving. Enjoy relaxed poolside fare at Breeze Café by the lagoon, or embrace the refined ambience of Summer Salt, an adults-only dining experience that exudes elegance. For a laid-back drink with coastal views, the Botanica Beach Lounge serves up expertly crafted cocktails in a stylish setting. If you’re after something more intimate, the in-room dining menu brings gourmet flavours straight to your villa, allowing you to savour a private meal in comfort.

Azure Bar and Grill, the resort’s signature restaurant, offers a menu that celebrates local and native ingredients. I indulged in the native blackened market fish, served with warrigal green lemon butter sauce, Ballina pipis, and potato fondant—a dish that was both flavorful and beautifully presented. For dessert, the “Sugarcane Burn” provided a theatrical and delightful end to the meal.

Don’t miss the chance to visit the food and drinks caravan located on the beachfront so you don’t need to walk far for snacks. On one evening, I opted for a takeaway pizza from their dedicated wood-fired pizza oven and enjoyed it in my room in front of the fireplace.

The Spa

The Osprey Spa provides a range of treatments designed to rejuvenate the body and mind. Osprey Spa at Elements of Byron is now the exclusive provider of Vanessa Megan™ facials in the Byron Bay and Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. This partnership brings the acclaimed, certified organic skincare brand to one of Australia’s premier resort spas, celebrated for its eco-conscious ethos and focus on nature-inspired wellness.

The moment you walk into the spa is when your relaxation starts. Keeping with the elements theme, the outdoors is brought indoors, and I could even hear the birds chirping, adding to the ambience. I experienced the Spa Taster Ritual, a 1.5-hour session that included a grounding foot bath, back, neck, and shoulder massage, express facial, and a geranium hair and scalp treatment. The therapists were professional and attentive, ensuring a relaxing experience.

Hot Tips

There is a lot of wellness experiences to be had at Elements of Byron and waking up early for sunrise yoga is a must. It takes place on top of the point overlooking the ocean and is just a glorious way to start your day off right.

Another tip is to leave room after dinner for the famous “Sugarcane Burn” dessert. The story behind it’s making is quite amazing.
