Indonesia AirAsia will launch its first-ever Adelaide service on 25 June 2025, offering South Australian travellers more ways to reach Bali and beyond. The new route will operate four times a week, using 180-seat Airbus A320-200 aircraft and adding over 74,000 annual seats through Adelaide Airport.
Flights are on sale now, starting from AUD199*. Services will depart Adelaide every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, returning from Denpasar every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
A new gateway to Asia
This new connection marks Indonesia AirAsia’s debut in the South Australian market and opens the door to seamless onward travel across its expansive network of over 130 destinations. Passengers can connect through Bali to cities including Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Bangkok, Phuket, Tokyo, Seoul, and Delhi via AirAsia’s FlyThru service, allowing for same-day international travel with through-checked baggage.
Veranita Yosephine, CEO of Indonesia AirAsia, said, “Australia is one of our most important growth markets. With the recent addition of Cairns, Darwin and now Adelaide, we’re connecting Australians to a world of travel possibilities via Bali.”
She added that South Australia itself is now firmly on the radar for inbound travel, and “Adelaide offers so much – from beaches and landscapes to culture and food. Our guests will now have a new way to explore South Australia’s unique tourism offerings.”
Strengthening regional travel ties
Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport, welcomed the announcement, saying, “Bali is our most popular outbound destination, and there’s strong pent-up demand for affordable fares. Indonesia AirAsia is now Adelaide’s first non-stop Asia-based low-cost carrier since 2015, giving travellers more choice and competitive options to explore Southeast Asia and beyond.”
The service also has the support of the Indonesian Consul General in Sydney, Vedi Kurnia Buana, who praised the launch as a step forward in tourism and bilateral cooperation.
“This new route enhances connectivity and opens broader opportunities for collaboration across tourism and other sectors,” said Buana.
“We look forward to seeing it embraced by South Australians and Indonesian travellers alike.”
