Intrepid Travel has certified under B Lab’s new global B Corp standards, becoming one of the first travel companies to meet the revised requirements ahead of the European Union’s Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition Directive taking effect on 27 September.
New standards replace points-based assessment model

B Lab’s V2 Standards introduce mandatory performance requirements across seven Impact Topics, including Climate Action, Human Rights, Fair Work, and Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, replacing the previous points-based assessment with independent, third-party verification. Intrepid’s certification covers 93 entities across 94 countries, including its Stay Intrepid portfolio of owned accommodation properties in Australia and Morocco, which were assessed for the first time and required Intrepid to demonstrate environmental operations standards across water management, waste and circular systems.
Intrepid chief executive James Thornton said the new standards raised the bar for certification.
“B Corp Certification has never been a badge for Intrepid. It is a framework that helps us keep improving. The new standards set a higher bar, at a time when the world needs companies to do more. We haven’t changed to meet these criteria, but we have made improvements, embedded policies deeply and ensured we have systems in place to support these across all parts of our global operations,” Thornton said.
Certification follows consistent growth since 2018

Intrepid first became B Corp certified in 2018 and has grown on average 20 per cent annually since then, excluding pandemic-affected years, while embedding responsible practices across human rights, worker policies, supplier engagement, climate advocacy and community investment through The Intrepid Foundation. The recertification follows a record financial performance in 2025, as the global B Corp movement approaches 10,000 certified companies across 100 countries.
