Intrepid Travel has announced the acquisition of Wild Bush Luxury from Experience Co., marking a significant boost to its premium, nature-based travel offerings within Australia.
The deal includes renowned guided walks and eco-luxury lodges across three states, further strengthening Intrepid’s domestic portfolio ahead of the 2026 season.
Iconic properties and experiences join Intrepid’s lineup

As part of the acquisition, Intrepid will take over operations of several high-profile tourism experiences, including the Arkaba Walk and Homestead in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges, The Maria Island Walk in Tasmania, and Bamurru Plains in the Northern Territory. These award-winning products include two Great Walks of Australia and two Luxury Lodges of Australia.
Brett Mitchell, Managing Director for Intrepid ANZ, said the acquisition was a strategic step in the company’s long-term goal to lead low-impact travel in Australia.
“Travellers are increasingly seeking meaningful, immersive ways to connect with Australia’s landscapes, culture and wildlife. By adding these iconic walks and eco-luxury lodges to our portfolio, we’re expanding the premium, low-impact travel options available to them,” Mitchell said.
Experience Co refocuses on scalable adventure growth

Experience Co. CEO John O’Sullivan said that while Wild Bush Luxury had been a valued part of their portfolio, the company’s future focus lies in scalable adventure offerings such as marine, treetop and skydiving experiences.
“This is a positive move for both businesses. Intrepid has a global reputation for delivering sustainable, nature-based travel experiences, making them the ideal partner to take Wild Bush Luxury forward,” he said.
“We’re committed to working closely with Intrepid to ensure a seamless transition for our team, guests and trade partners.”
A major milestone for Intrepid’s growth in Australia

The acquisition, which will be completed in February 2026, positions Intrepid as one of the largest walking tourism operators in Australia and aligns closely with its Climate Action Plan and decarbonisation commitments.
The new additions support Intrepid’s strategic goal of offering premium, low-impact journeys that align with growing traveller demand for deeper, nature-connected experiences.
