Journey Beyond has launched a new festive rail holiday combining its Great Southern train with a three-night stay at Monarto Safari Resort, offering travellers an alternative way to celebrate Christmas.
The seven-day package departs Brisbane on 21 December and combines a coast-to-coast rail journey with wildlife experiences at the South Australian resort, reflecting growing demand for experience-led festive travel.
Rail and safari combined for festive season
The itinerary begins with three nights aboard the Great Southern, travelling from Brisbane to Adelaide with all-inclusive dining, beverages and Off Train Experiences in destinations including Coffs Harbour, the Hunter Valley or Port Stephens, and Melbourne or regional Victoria.
After arriving in Adelaide on Christmas Eve, guests transfer to Monarto Safari Resort via Mount Lofty Summit and Hahndorf before spending three nights at the safari-style property.
Experiences include a Sunset Wildlife Safari, a Christmas Eve sundowner, a traditional Christmas Day lunch overlooking the resort’s wild African animal habitats and access to neighbouring Monarto Safari Park on Boxing Day.
Responding to demand for experience-led holidays
Journey Beyond Managing Director of Rail and Touring David Donald said the new package catered to travellers seeking a different way to spend the festive season.
“As Australians increasingly seek meaningful experiences over the festive season, we wanted to create a Christmas holiday reimagined: wild, unhurried and utterly unforgettable,” Donald said.
The Monarto Safari Resort Festive Stay is priced from $5,550 per person twin share in Gold Service, with Platinum fares starting from $8,570 per person.
