Luxury Escapes launches China culinary tour hosted by Diana Chan and Khanh Ong

Luxury Escapes has unveiled a nine-day culinary journey through China as part of its Signature Series, hosted by MasterChef Australia alumni Diana Chan and Khanh Ong, departing April 2027. The tour travels in a group of no more than 32 guests and is priced from $7,652 per person.

The launch follows growing Australian interest in China as a destination, with Luxury Escapes reporting hotel bookings from Australian customers up 174 per cent in 2025 and a further 53 per cent in the first seven months of 2026.

Itinerary spans Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai

The nine-day itinerary covers three nights in Beijing, two nights in Xi’an and three nights in Shanghai. Guests visit the Forbidden City, the Great Wall of China and the Terracotta Warriors, staying in five-star hotels including Regent and Shangri-La properties.

Culinary experiences include a Peking Duck banquet and guided hutong food tour in Beijing, a hands-on dumpling-making class at Tang Dynasty Palace with Chan and Ong, street food sampling in Xi’an’s Muslim Quarter, exploration of Shanghai’s microbrewery scene, and a farewell dinner at a Michelin-starred restaurant.

Diana Chan said the itinerary combined cultural and culinary exploration. “Growing up in Malaysia, food has always been one of the ways I connect with people and places. China is such an exciting destination for food lovers and I’m looking forward to making personal connections with travellers as we explore the country beyond its famous sights,” Chan said.

Khanh Ong said the itinerary reflected the diversity between China’s culinary regions. “China is the kind of place where every city brings something different to the table. I’m looking forward to moving from the old hutongs of Beijing to Shanghai’s modern dining scene,” Ong said.

Fare inclusions

The $7,652 per person fare includes internal transfers, luxury accommodation, guided tours, select meals and the curated culinary experiences hosted by Chan and Ong.
