The luxury Maldives island idyll of Amilla Fushi has a new general manager. The Small Maldives Island Co has announced the appointment of Australian national, Jason Kruse, to the position.
Raised in Central Queensland country towns Capella and Emerald, Jason brings with him over 20 years’ experience in the international hospitality and tourism sector. He began his career with notable senior leadership positions across a varied portfolio of properties in his native Australia including with SPHC Hotels’ Daydream Island and Laguna Quays. He then moved to successful tenures as General Manager at Casa Del Mar (Langkawi, Malaysia), The Breezes Resort (Bali, Indonesia), Six Senses Fiji and most notably a highly regarded six-year term at the helm of Universal Resorts’ Kurumba Maldives resort.
Jason’s wealth of experience in luxury worldwide resorts will complement the current team of talented hoteliers at Amilla Fushi to further strengthen the resort’s reputation for delivering bespoke services and rich experiences. Specifically, Jason believes that his experience has taught him that: “The culture within the heart of house is paramount. An engaged team with training and inbuilt trust and flexibility will lead to a higher level of positive guest experiences. It is important that as a leader, I have to be with our team and being their biggest supporter.”
“I tend to prefer more peaceful and remote locations,” he says. “As for the Maldives, I greatly enjoy the service standards that can be delivered whilst working with a multicultural team.”
Jason has joined the Amilla Family with his wife Victoria, who drove the decision to return to the Maldives as much as he did.
“Victoria and I are very much a team and we see this role like working on a farm. It is our life, and not our job. When we get up, we start, when we go to sleep, we finish.”
