Marriott’s Autograph Collection debuts in Nepal

Marriott International has announced the launch of its Autograph Collection brand in South Asia with the opening of The Soaltee Kathmandu, Autograph Collection.

This iconic hotel marks the 19th Marriott Bonvoy brand to operate in the region and brings the group’s unique, story-driven hospitality to Nepal for the first time.

A legacy reimagined in the heart of Kathmandu

Located in the Tahachal area, the hotel is nestled within 12 acres of landscaped gardens and blends traditional Nepalese architecture with modern luxury. Originally opened in 1966, the property has long been a favourite among dignitaries and global travellers. Now rebranded under the Autograph Collection, The Soaltee Kathmandu presents 285 rooms and suites that celebrate local craftsmanship through design details such as wooden jaalis, Thangka paintings and exposed brickwork.

“The debut of Autograph Collection Hotels in South Asia with The Soaltee Kathmandu is a proud milestone for Marriott International,” said Ranju Alex, Regional Vice President, Marriott International – South Asia. “It reflects our commitment to expanding into culturally rich leisure destinations.”

Culture, cuisine and curated experiences

The hotel introduces The Storyteller, a curated installation showcasing stories and heritage fragments, offering guests a layered narrative experience. Culinary highlights include Garden Terrace for Nepali thali, Kakori for Awadhi specialities, and Bao Xuan for Chinese cuisine. Guests can also unwind at Patio, Rodi Bar or the Sports Lounge.

For wellness seekers, the hotel offers an indulgent spa with treatments including hot stone therapy and Newari massage, a 24-hour fitness centre, clay tennis court, and outdoor pool.

Event planners will find 25,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor space ideal for weddings and conferences, all set against the dramatic Himalayan backdrop. The hotel also takes an eco-conscious approach with sustainable initiatives like an in-house bottling plant, water conservation systems and an onsite herb garden.

Avinash Deshmukh, General Manager, said, “This iconic hotel seamlessly blends Nepal’s rich cultural heritage with contemporary luxury. Guided by Autograph Collection’s brand promise of authenticity and compelling storytelling, we are excited to usher in a new chapter for this landmark property.”
