‘I love a sunburnt country’ is the name of a new luxury rail, sail and stay adventure in April 2022 that pairs an outback journey aboard the Ghan train with a five-star coastal cruise where every guest has own butler. Released by small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller, the package offers savings of up $6480 per couple for bookings made by August 23, 2021.
Aimed at showcasing the sweeping plains, far horizons, ragged mountain and jewel seas that Dorothea MacKellar loved in her famous poem “I love a sunburnt country’, the 15-night package starts in Darwin on April 5, 2022, with a night’s accommodation, before guests board the iconic Ghan Expedition train for a bucket-list, three-night journey south to Adelaide. The storied rail trip includes off-train excursions in Katherine, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy as well as gourmet, regionally-inspired meals and beverages aboard the train.
In Adelaide, guests will be flown to Melbourne for a two-night stay in a five-star hotel before boarding the luxurious, boutique cruise ship, Silver Shadow, for a live-it-up, nine-night cruise back north along Australia’s east coast to Cairns, with visits to Eden, Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the Whitsunday Islands.
‘I love a sunburnt country’ package is available from $9895 per person, twin-share, in a Vista Suite – a saving of $2690 per person. In a Deluxe Verandah Suite, the package is available from $11,875 per person, twin-share – a saving of $3240 per person. The savings apply to bookings made by August 23, 2021.
Fares include accommodation and transfers in Darwin and Melbourne and a flight from Adelaide to Melbourne.
