The latest outbreak of nine new COVID-19 \cases across three households in Melbourne have prompted the state government to introduce new restrictions for 31 Greater Melbourne Local Government Areas (LGAs), effective from 6:00pm AEST last night.
New Zealand has also suspended its travel bubble with Victoria, effective 6:00pm AEST last night. Travellers arriving in New Zealand from Victoria after that time will be required to enter mandatory hotel quarantine in New Zealand. The initial three-day suspension will be reviewed daily.
- Face masks must be worn in all indoor settings by adults and all children aged 12 and over. Masks must be worn in high schools while primary school students are exempt. Teachers at primary schools must wear a face covering. Non compliance with this regulation attracts a fine of $200.
- Households may receive only 5 visitors per day; the cap on private outdoor gatherings is set at 30 people and also applies to weddings and funerals, if they are not being held at an official venue. Spectators at community sports are also affected by this regulation.
- Dancing is permitted but participants must wear a mask if dancing indoors. There is no cap on weddings or funerals provided everyone wears a mask when indoors.
If you are from the Greater Melbourne area and are visiting regional Victoria you must wear your mask indoors.
Travellers from Victoria to other Australian states and territories must declare if they have been in a Melbourne hotspot, as defined by the 31 LGAs, and follow the health department requirements of the respective states and territories regarding quarantine and other COVID-19 protocols.
