Adelaide reconnects with international skies as Qantas launches new flights to Auckland and unveils a premium lounge experience.
Qantas is marking a major milestone for South Australia with the announcement of a new international route and the opening of its first Domestic Business Lounge in Adelaide. From 31 October 2025, travellers will be able to fly non-stop from Adelaide to Auckland, creating seamless new connections for both business and leisure across the Tasman and beyond.
The launch brings more than 30,000 additional seats between the two cities and gives South Australians a one-stop connection to New York via the airline’s popular QF3 Auckland service. It’s a move set to boost inbound tourism and strengthen ties with key global partners.
A new era of flying from Adelaide
The new route – Adelaide’s first non-stop international service with Qantas in recent years – is set to operate seasonally until 3 May 2026, four times weekly on a Boeing 737-800. Fares are available now, with introductory return economy flights from $699 AUD including taxes.
It’s a welcome return to international skies for the city. Premier Peter Malinauskas MP said the route will not only strengthen ties with New Zealand but provide vital economic links through its connection to the United States.
A lounge that celebrates South Australia

Coinciding with the route announcement, Qantas also officially opened its new Domestic Business Lounge at Adelaide Airport – a space that captures the heart of South Australian hospitality and design.
Inspired by local icons like the Adelaide Central Market and Flinders Chase National Park, the 1,016-square-metre lounge features a Market Kitchen with a live cooking station and dishes crafted by Neil Perry, alongside lighter offerings from culinary legend Maggie Beer.
Guests can enjoy local wines and produce, bespoke interiors from JamFactory artisans, and generous seating with wireless and USB charging access – all aimed at elevating the pre-flight experience.
A milestone moment for Qantas and Adelaide
Cam Wallace, CEO International at Qantas Group, said the day marked two major achievements for the airline and the state.
“This is fantastic news for our South Australian customers. Not only are we launching a direct international flight to Auckland, but we’re also offering premium lounge access for our frequent flyers,” said Wallace. “The new lounge has been designed with feedback from our travellers in mind, and we’re proud to deliver this upgrade.”
Adelaide Airport Managing Director Brenton Cox added: “We’re excited to welcome Qantas international services back to Adelaide and to showcase the best of South Australia through this beautifully designed space.”
