A bold new travel corridor is set to emerge for Australian travellers with the launch of Vietjet Qazaqstan – a newly unveiled airline brand created through a strategic partnership between Vietnam’s Vietjet and Kazakhstan’s Qazaq Air.
Announced during Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam’s official visit to Kazakhstan, the new airline brand will bridge Vietnam, Southeast Asia, and Australia with Central Asia, opening doors to one of the world’s least-explored regions for Aussie adventurers seeking exotic landscapes and rich cultural experiences.
A major milestone in regional aviation
Backed by a Foreign Investment Registration Certificate from Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance, Vietjet’s aviation subsidiary Aviation Holdings will acquire a strategic equity stake in Qazaq Air. The newly formed Vietjet Qazaqstan will be built on Qazaq Air’s existing infrastructure, creating a new-age low-cost carrier aimed at enhancing cross-border connectivity and tourism.
The airline is set to operate at least 20 Boeing 737 aircraft and will be supported by a newly signed Customer Services General Terms Agreement with Boeing, covering spare parts, technical services, pilot and engineer training, and ongoing aircraft upgrades.

Boosting access for Australian travellers
Vietjet Qazaqstan will position Kazakhstan as a new gateway for Australians into Central Asia, connecting to Vietjet’s broader network across Southeast Asia and offering more seamless travel opportunities from Australia to the region.
The move mirrors Vietjet’s successful expansion into the Thai market, with Vietjet Thailand now established as a leading low-cost carrier in the region. Vietjet Qazaqstan is expected to play a similarly transformative role in Central Asia by driving economic development, tourism growth and aviation innovation.
Strategic investment in people and progress
More than just a route expansion, Vietjet’s investment in Kazakhstan reflects a deeper commitment to technology transfer, local workforce development, and economic collaboration. The airline plans to implement modern digital operating models and advanced training systems to build a world-class team while promoting regional prosperity through aviation.
Note: Qazaqstan is the correct spelling for the airline in accordance with the country’s transition to Roman spelling. The Anglicised spelling of the Cyrillic – Kazakhstan – is still in use for the place name.
