Northern Territory Chief Minister, Michael Gunner, has announced that the territory’s borders will remain closed to people arriving from Greater Sydney until Friday, 28 August 2020.
Mr Gunner said the acceleration of outbreaks in Sydney are a concern, and he has delayed re-opening the borders to people from Sydney in order to protect NT residents.
“There is still community transmission which means Sydney will present the threat for the foreseeable future.
“To provide certainty for all Territorians, we’re extending our hotspot declaration to all of Greater Sydney for at least another four weeks.
“That means our borders will stay closed to all of Greater Sydney.”
