Air New Zealand is set to enhance trans-Tasman travel with the launch of a new seasonal service connecting Adelaide and Christchurch. Taking off from 28 October 2025 and running through to 28 March 2026, the route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays, providing more than 16,000 seats across the season.
The new non-stop service is the first to directly link the South Australian capital with the South Island of New Zealand, offering travellers a convenient gateway to explore popular destinations like Queenstown, Fiordland, and the island’s renowned food and wine regions. Likewise, it opens the door for Kiwi visitors to discover the charm of South Australia, from its coastal cities to world-class vineyards.
This new route, operated by an Airbus A320 or A321neo aircraft, reflects Air New Zealand’s commitment to strengthening connectivity across the Tasman and catering to growing demand between Australia and the South Island.
Expanded domestic schedule adds 36,000 seats across New Zealand
In addition to growing its international network, Air New Zealand is increasing capacity on its key domestic routes ahead of the busy winter season. From 28 June to 25 October 2025, the airline will add more than 36,000 seats to services between Auckland and Christchurch, Auckland and Queenstown, and Auckland and Dunedin.
This uplift includes upgauging hundreds of flights to the larger A321neo aircraft, delivering more flexibility for customers travelling for events, winter holidays or university semesters. One additional flight will also be introduced on the Auckland–Queenstown route, catering to peak seasonal demand.
The move supports Air New Zealand’s focus on long-term growth and regional development, with a view to boosting tourism, local economies, and inter-island connectivity.
