Western Australia’s Premier, Mark McGowan, announced a “circuit-breaker” minimum 4-day lockdown for the Perth and Peel regions of the state, commencing at midnight last night.
Following restrictions put in place for both regions yesterday, the Premier said a new case of COVID-19 from “fleeting” contact over dinner at the Indian Ocean Brewery in the northern suburbs, connected to the first case has prompted the lockdown.
Whether the lockdown will be extend remains to be seen. “We will continue to review the situation based on testing numbers and information from our contact tracing teams and provide updates where we can,” the Premier said.
