Qantas has announced it will increase flights between Brisbane and Port Vila, Vanuatu to daily services from March through to late October 2026, responding to strong demand from Australians seeking tropical island escapes.
The expanded schedule will more than double capacity on the route during the peak travel season, with over 35,500 seats available across the seven-month period. Flights will be operated by a mix of Embraer E190 and Boeing 737 aircraft.
Support for Vanuatu’s tourism growth
Qantas Regional General Manager for New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, Michael Gulliver, said the move reflects the rising popularity of Vanuatu among Australian travellers.
“We’re seeing strong interest, particularly from families and couples looking for a tropical escape that’s close to home and offers great value,” Gulliver said.
“Vanuatu has stunning natural beauty and rich cultural experiences, all just a short flight from Brisbane. We’re excited to make it even easier for Australians to explore what makes Vanuatu so special.”
Vanuatu Tourism Office CEO, Adela Issachar Aru, welcomed the expansion, calling it a show of confidence in the nation’s post-COVID recovery.
“With visitor numbers now eight per cent above pre-pandemic levels, this move by Qantas is incredibly encouraging,” she said.
“More flights mean more opportunities for Australians to experience our islands’ warmth, resilience and unique culture. We’re deeply grateful for Qantas’s continued commitment.”
