Qantas lands in Samoa as country welcomes back travellers

It has been a long 865 days for Samoa, but the borders are finally open to tourists with the first Qantas flight touching down at Faleolo International Airport, Apia yesterday.

Guests on board the flight were welcomed with warm weather and hospitality from locals as they stepped foot off the plane in Apia. Traditional Samoan dancers and a large local crowd welcomed the arrival with song, dance and many hugs.

Samoa Tourism is also kicking back into life, with a new advertising campaign fronted by NRL star turned social media sensation Johnny Tuivasa-Sheck, with the slogan “Beautiful is Back”.

Travel Monitor reporter Kate Webster is on the ground in Samoa for the opening and will be updating the trade on all the new and exciting tourism offerings on offer for clients seeking some Pacific sunshine.

Also bringing the sunshine from Samoa is Studio10, who will be featuring live crosses to the island nation throughout the rest of the week.
