Qantas has announced the appointment of Oronzo Miccoli as its new Head of Corporate and Government Sales in Sydney. Starting in January 2025, Mr Miccoli will oversee the management of key corporate and government customer accounts across Australia and lead the corporate sales strategy for Qantas Airlines.
Mr Miccoli brings over a decade of experience with Qantas to the role, having joined the airline in 2013. He has held several senior commercial positions, most recently serving as Senior Executive Vice President for the Americas, based in Los Angeles.
In his current role, Mr Miccoli has managed Qantas’ commercial, financial, and operational performance across the United States, Canada, and South America. During his tenure, he navigated significant milestones, including the carrier’s return to San Francisco and the launch of the Sydney–Auckland–New York route in 2023.
Prior to his Americas appointment, he led Qantas’ Planning, Performance & Finance team, where he was instrumental in driving value for corporate customers, developing new business opportunities, and growing revenue.
Strengthening partnerships
Kathryn Robertson, Qantas Executive Manager of Global Sales & Distribution, highlighted Mr Miccoli’s qualifications for the role.
“We’re so excited to be welcoming Oronzo back to Australia and into this incredibly important role supporting our corporate customers and stakeholders across the country,” she said.
“His strong leadership skills, extensive experience in managing trade and government partnerships, and deep understanding of the industry have prepared Oronzo well to lead this critical area of the business.”
Looking ahead
Reflecting on his time with Qantas, Mr Miccoli expressed enthusiasm for the new role.
“It has been an honour to guide our Americas region through the post-COVID restart as we restored our international capacity, rebuilt relationships with our partners, and brought new routes online, like our key New York service,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to returning to Australia and further strengthening the relationships with our important corporate and government partners.”
