For the first time, the iconic Lizard Island Resort on Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, has been named in Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for 2020. The accolade comes at a welcome time, as the island prepares to re-open on 1 September 2020, after a period of closure during the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020 World’s Best list is the result of an international Travel + Leisure reader survey. It is one of the world’s most esteemed hotel collections and representative of the world’s most incredible travel experiences. Lizard Island achieved a score of 94.59 out of a possible 100, placing it as the best Australian resort in the Top 5 Australian and New Zealand Resorts list.
In a year when travel has involved reminiscing about favourite holidays and planning trips to wish-list destinations, it’s especially meaningful that Lizard Island is top of mind among the world’s most discerning travellers casting their votes.
