Queensland agents attend PNG Highlands-themed event

Over 40 travel agents from South East Queensland gathered, with a dozen suppliers visiting from Papua New Guinea, in Brisbane on Wednesday night for an immersive Highlands-themed trade event hosted by Papua New Guinea Tourism Promotion Authority (PNGTPA).

PNGTPA ceo, Jerry Agus, and marketing director, Alice Kuaningi, were joined by the PNGTPA Australian team – Simon Pih (based in Port Moresby) and market representatives Holly Marshall and Andrew Cavallaro from Example.

Attendees learned of the destination’s incredible cultural and adventure travel offerings, and the exciting reasons to visit Australia’s closest neighbour. Agents were treated to goody bags including PNG-grown Kwila Coffee and Queen Emma Chocolate, and Alana Pound from the corporate travel division of APNIC won a trip for two, including Air Niugini flights, three nights at the Stanley Hotel & Suites and three nights at Madang Resort with tours.

Yesterday the tourism board hosted Australian and New Zealand tour operators at an all-day trade show, also in Brisbane.
