Queensland Airports Limited (QAL) has recorded a strong FY26, welcoming 8.4 million passengers across its four-airport network, with international traffic rising 25 per cent year-on-year.
The airport group, which operates Gold Coast, Townsville, Mount Isa and Longreach airports, recorded overall passenger growth of 6.2 per cent, outpacing the national average and adding half a million passengers compared with FY25.
Gold Coast Airport leads growth
Gold Coast Airport was the standout performer, handling 6.5 million passengers, up 7.7 per cent on the previous financial year.
The airport also recorded its busiest year for Trans-Tasman travel, with international passenger numbers boosted by new services to Bali, Fiji, Hamilton, Dunedin and Auckland, alongside increased domestic capacity on the Melbourne and Sydney routes.
Regional network continues to expand
Townsville Airport welcomed 1.7 million passengers, with airlines adding more than 120,000 seats on the Brisbane route to support growing leisure and business demand.
Mount Isa and Longreach airports handled 233,000 and 34,000 passengers respectively, while QAL Chief Executive Amelia Evans credited the group’s performance to strong airline partnerships, tourism collaboration and continued investment in regional connectivity.
