Rail Europe opens Renfe seat reservations for passholders

Rail Europe has introduced a significant enhancement for Eurail and Interrail Global Pass holders by enabling online seat reservations for Renfe’s long- and medium-distance trains across Spain. This development simplifies the travel experience, allowing passengers to book seats on high-speed AVE, Alvia, and Euromed services, Intercity trains, and international connections between Spain and France directly through Rail Europe’s platforms.

Previously, securing seat reservations for Renfe trains posed challenges for passholders, often requiring in-person bookings at stations. With this update, travellers can now determine if a reservation is necessary, view associated costs, and complete the booking process online, eliminating the need for station queues and facilitating a more efficient journey through Spain’s extensive rail network.

Access to popular routes and upcoming expansions

The integration includes access to prominent domestic and international routes such as:

  • Madrid to Barcelona (AVE)
  • Valladolid to Burgos (Alvia)
  • Barcelona to Valencia (Euromed)
  • Madrid to San Sebastián (Intercity)
  • Marseille to Madrid (international AVE)

Additionally, Media Distancia routes are slated to be available soon, further broadening travel options within Spain.

Enhancing the European rail experience

This initiative underscores Rail Europe’s commitment to providing seamless train travel experiences across Europe. By incorporating Renfe’s passholder fares, Rail Europe ensures that Eurail and Interrail passholders can navigate Spain’s rail system with the same ease experienced in other European countries. This enhancement complements existing partnerships with operators like SNCF, Lyria, Eurostar, Trenitalia, and RhB, reinforcing Rail Europe’s position as a leading platform for European train travel.
