Rendez-vous Canada+ wraps up successful event

International tourism marketplace for Destination Canada, Rendez-vous Canada+ (RVC+) has wrapped up its 45th event in Toronto with the new hybrid format exceeding all expectations.

Canada was on show with more than 700 delegates attended the conference, representing 450 organisations selling Canadian products and experiences, and more than 170 sellers participating virtually. Over 450 buyers also attended (150 of these were virtual) representing international markets including Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Mexico, South Korea, the United Kingdom and the United States.

Destination Canada GSA Managing Director Donna Campbell said “This year’s RVC+ was a sell-out show, which was wonderful to see in our post-pandemic world.”

“An incredible 48,000-plus face-to-face appointments took place between buyers, sellers and media throughout the four-day conference, with participants eager to learn more about Canada’s legendary experiences and tourism offerings,” Donna Campbell added.

The event was held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and was hosted by Destination Canada and the Tourism Industry Association of Canada. Over the duration of the event, there were multiple networking opportunities and city tours, highlighting Toronto’s eclectic offerings as Canada’s largest city and a global centre for business, finance, arts and culture.

Prior to and following the conference, participants also had the chance to participate in exciting famils which took place in various regions of Canada, where they were able to gain first-hand experience of Canada’s unique wildlife, landscapes, diverse communities and outdoor adventures.

RVC is a powerful magnet for international tour operators and wholesalers who seek out innovative and authentic tourism products, services and packages that may give them a competitive edge as international travel continues to boom post-Covid.

Next year’s RVC event will be hosted in Québec City. The spotlight will shine anew on this one-of-a-kind city at the 2023 premier international tourism marketplace of Canada.

Destination Québec cité General Manager, Robert Mercure, said “In 2020, we indicated that the cancellation of Rendez-vous Canada in our destination was only a postponement. So, we are happy to welcome this grandiose and major event for the tourism industry in 2023.”
