Scenic celebrates 30 years touring New Zealand

Scenic Luxury Cruises & Tours has marked 30 years of showcasing New Zealand, a destination central to its global success.

The milestone coincides with the return of Scenic Eclipse II, the company’s ultra-luxury discovery yacht, for its inaugural season in the region.

Scenic, founded in Australia 38 years ago, began its international expansion in 1992 by introducing New Zealand as its first overseas destination. Since then, more than 33,000 guests have explored New Zealand’s stunning landscapes and rich cultural heritage with Scenic.

“New Zealand has long been a favourite destination for Scenic’s luxury travellers,” said Liz Crowley, Scenic Journey Designer for New Zealand, Australia and Africa. “We extend our heartfelt thanks to our partners for their support over the past three decades.”

Exclusive land journeys in 2025/2026

For the upcoming 2025/2026 season, Scenic offers four exclusive land journeys through New Zealand’s North and South Islands. Ranging from 12 to 24 days, these smaller-group tours feature:

  • Scenic Enrich events providing cultural immersion.
  • Scenic Special Stays at iconic locations.
  • Scenic Freechoice excursions tailored to guest preferences.

Scenic Eclipse II in New Zealand and beyond

The inaugural New Zealand deployment of Scenic Eclipse II commenced in November 2024 and continues through March 2025, with more voyages planned for 2025/2026. The yacht accommodates just 228 guests, offering an intimate experience enhanced by exclusive helicopter excursions and immersive itineraries.

“Scenic Eclipse II sets the benchmark for ultra-luxury cruising,” said Katherine O’Neill, Scenic’s Director of Global Marketing Strategy. “Guests will explore New Zealand’s wonders alongside unique voyages to East Antarctica, the Ross Sea, the South Pacific, and the Great Barrier Reef.”
