The Australian Travel Industry Association (ATIA) has appointed newly elected Council of Australian Tour Operators (CATO) Committee Chair Sean Martin to its Board, strengthening representation for Australia’s tour operator and wholesaler sector following CATO’s integration into ATIA.
Martin joins the Board as the CATO Committee’s representative under the governance framework established when CATO formally became part of ATIA on 1 July 2026.
Strengthening touring sector representation
Martin’s appointment adds further tour operator and wholesaler expertise to the ATIA Board, joining Vice Chair Toni Ambler and Director Brett Mitchell.
As CATO Committee Chair, Martin will act as a link between the Committee and the ATIA Board, ensuring the priorities of tour operators and wholesalers continue to help shape the association’s advocacy and strategic direction.
Martin said he was honoured to represent the CATO community and looked forward to bringing the perspectives of tour operators and wholesalers to the Board.
Governance model expands industry representation
ATIA said the appointment reflects its governance model, which provides dedicated leadership across different sectors of the travel industry through the CATO Committee, the Association of Travel Management Companies (ATMC) and the Independent Travel Advisors Association (ITAA).
ATIA Chair Christian Hunter said Martin’s appointment further strengthened the breadth of expertise on the Board while reinforcing the connection between the CATO Committee and ATIA’s leadership.
The CATO Committee will continue to provide strategic leadership for the touring sector while working with the ATIA Board on advocacy, collaboration and member engagement.
