Sheraton debuts in Papua New Guinea with Port Moresby opening

Sheraton Hotels & Resorts has entered the Papua New Guinea market with the opening of Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites, marking the brand’s debut in the country and Marriott International’s second property in Papua New Guinea.

Located in Port Moresby’s central business and government district, the 394-room hotel follows a major transformation and introduces Sheraton’s latest global design concept to the Pacific market.

Landmark hotel targets business and leisure travellers

The hotel offers 394 accommodation options, including 284 guestrooms, 15 suites and 95 fully equipped apartments designed for extended stays and family travel.

Positioned five minutes from Jacksons International Airport and directly connected to Vision City Mega Mall, the property also features more than 2,500sqm of meeting and event space, including Papua New Guinea’s largest ballroom, alongside multiple dining venues, an infinity pool, fitness centre and day spa.

Cristiano Rinaldi, Chief Lodging Product & Services Officer, Asia Pacific excluding China, Marriott International, said the opening represented an important milestone for the brand.

“With Sheraton’s focus on intuitive design, technology-enabled experiences and spaces that foster connection, the hotel is positioned to become a central gathering place for both international travellers and the local community,” Rinaldi said.

Expanding Marriott’s Pacific footprint

Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites becomes the eighth Sheraton property across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific, reinforcing Marriott International’s expansion across the region.

General Manager Shin Ching said the opening would strengthen Papua New Guinea’s hospitality offering.

“We are thrilled to welcome guests to Sheraton Port Moresby Stanley Hotel & Suites, a place where travellers from around the world and locals can connect, relax and create memories,” Ching said.

A grand opening celebration is planned for later this year.
