South Coast and Southern Highlands unite for winter tourism campaign

A major regional collaboration is underway as five New South Wales destinations combine forces to launch the Go Grand Winter 2025 campaign, encouraging road trippers to explore the scenic wonders of the South Coast and Southern Highlands.

A unified push for regional winter travel

The campaign brings together Wollongong, Shellharbour, Kiama, Shoalhaven and the Southern Highlands — five local government areas (LGAs) aligned along the Grand Pacific Drive. Running from late May through to August 2025, the Go Grand initiative is designed to drive visitation during the cooler months and support local tourism operators with a unified, destination-led marketing push.

Shannan Perry-Hall, General Manager of Destination Sydney Surrounds South and spokesperson for Go Grand, said, “The Go Grand initiative is a landmark example of regional collaboration, positioning the South Coast and Southern Highlands as NSW’s premier winter road trip destination.”

“Go Grand is a celebration of seasonal luxury and connection. By bringing together five remarkable LGAs under the Grand Pacific Drive banner, we’re not just promoting individual destinations — we’re presenting a unified vision for winter travel that appeals to nature-lovers, gourmands, culture seekers and weekenders alike,” she said.

Grand flavours, experiences, nature and stays

Framed around four central themes — Grand Experiences, Grand Flavours, Grand Nature and Grand Stays — the campaign showcases the diversity of tourism offerings in the region. From truffle hunts and distillery tastings to whale watching and bushwalks, visitors can enjoy immersive winter experiences that highlight the richness of local culture, produce and landscapes.

By leveraging the iconic Grand Pacific Drive touring route, the campaign provides a seamless and enticing itinerary for travellers — linking beaches, rainforests, rolling highlands, and charming towns in one connected journey. Importantly, it allows LGAs to pool resources and deliver greater impact than through stand-alone campaigns.
