Switzerland recorded 43.93 million hotel overnight stays in 2025, up 2.6 per cent year-on-year, with Oceania demand growing 4.3 per cent, as Scenic promotes its Iconic Switzerland land journey ahead of 2027 departures.
Iconic Switzerland spans 13 days for up to 28 guests

The handcrafted land journey combines panoramic rail travel with luxury accommodation, local culinary experiences and a dedicated Scenic Tour Director, travelling in groups of no more than 28. Highlights include the GoldenPass Express rail journey, a Scenic Special Stay at Kempinski Palace Engelberg, and an ascent to Jungfraujoch, home to Europe’s highest railway station.
Scenic journey designer Janelle Maher said the itinerary was built to remove logistical complexity from a multi-region trip.
“Australians are drawn to the contrast of high Alpine landscapes, tranquil lakes, sophisticated cities and remarkable rail journeys, all within one compact destination. Iconic Switzerland connects those experiences seamlessly, giving guests the time to take in the country at a considered pace without having to manage the logistics themselves,” Maher said.
Additional inclusions cover a monastery cheesemaking class, a traditional fondue experience, and two Scenic Enrich experiences: wine tasting near Zurich and a risotto-making class on Lake Lugano, alongside stops at the Matterhorn, Grindelwald and Lake Geneva.
Switzerland also features across river cruise combinations

Beyond the standalone land journey, Switzerland features in Scenic’s Rhine Highlights with Switzerland and Romantic Rhine and Moselle with Switzerland itineraries, both combining a river cruise with a five-day Swiss land extension. Travellers seeking a longer trip can combine the Romantic Rhine and Moselle cruise with the Iconic Switzerland land tour and an Enchanting Belgium extension for a 30-day itinerary.
Iconic Switzerland departs between May and September 2027, with bookings made by 31 October 2026 saving $400 per person. Early access for 2028 departures is also now open.
