Corinne Adams is the General Manager at Ramada Resort by Wyndham Flynns Beach, located in Port Macquarie on the NSW mid north coast. Travel Monitor took some time to talk to Corinne about all things travel and her role in the industry.
What does your job involve?
Managing the day-to-day operations of the resort, communicating with our Club Wyndham South Pacific owners, building a team obsessed with helping customers, ensuring service standards are met and maintained, and taking care to exceed our guests’ expectations. In addition to my responsibilities at this resort, I also manage our Club Wyndham South Pacific apartments in Port Macquarie’s Northpoint building and I am Chair of the body corporate of that building.
What do you enjoy most about your profession?
I love my profession because everyone shares the same vision and is dedicated to exceeding guest expectations. Our service commitment is to provide hospitality with heart to all our customers and I enjoy doing this.
What are the biggest challenges for you in your profession?
Losing high potential employees is a constant challenge to overcome. Star performers generally move on for the right reasons – because they want to move countries or cities for opportunities, not that they are dissatisfied – but it still means they need to be replaced.
What do you think are the biggest challenges the industry faces?
Changes in marketing trends and purchasing dynamics – for example, with online travel agencies – means that the industry is constantly evolving. This means we must continually learn to ensure we maintain our market share and remain ahead of the rest of the market.
What do you think will be the biggest game changer in the travel industry in the next 12 months’?
The role of technology in shaping the guests’ journey – for example, the implementation of text messaging services. Guests prefer quick, direct responses rather than calling the front desk or sending an email – plus, having it all stored on their mobile phones means they can access the information whenever they need to.
Who inspires you most and why?
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. I love the leadership qualities that Jacinda possesses; she is strong, personal and authentic.
Who would you invite on your next holiday if you could choose anyone and where would you go?
My family, and we would go to Playa Del Carmen in Mexico.
