The Tasmanian Walking Company has announced a groundbreaking new experience set to launch in 2026 – a five-day guided walk that will unite two of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, Uluru and Kata Tjuta.
This marks the first time visitors will be able to stay overnight within the World-Heritage-listed Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, in eco-sensitive accommodation designed to preserve the surrounding environment.
Developed in close consultation with Anangu Traditional Owners, the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Board of Management, and Parks Australia, this multi-day walk promises an immersive journey into the heart of Australia’s Red Centre. Small groups of up to 14 guests will explore the region’s rich cultural heritage, guided by the knowledge of the land’s Traditional Owners.
Brett Godfrey, co-owner of Tasmanian Walking Company, spoke of the walk’s significance: “This desert journey unites two geological icons—Kata Tjuta and Uluru—over a 54-kilometre trail. It’s a culmination of a nine-year journey to bring this cultural phenomenon to life, offering travellers an opportunity to experience the landscape and Anangu history firsthand.”
The Uluru-Kata Tjuta Signature Walk will feature art workshops, land management lessons, and three-course meals served under the stars of the Milky Way. Guests will stay in eco-friendly accommodations and walk along remote desert trails that provide breathtaking views of the ancient rock formations.
Chair of the Anangu Steering Committee, Tapaya Edwards, shared the importance of this experience: “Our people have lived on this land for over 30,000 years. This walk offers visitors the chance to slow down and learn about our culture, art, and traditions, and to help us protect this environment.”
Launching in April 2026, this world-first walk will become the second Northern Territory offering from the Tasmanian Walking Company, following the success of the Larapinta Signature Walk.
