The Langham, Sydney has announced the appointment of Stephen Lech as its new Executive Chef, leading the culinary program
for all aspects of the hotel from banquet events and weddings, the hotel’s cocktail lounge; Observatory Bar and the recently opened luxury buffet, interactive dining restaurant, Kitchens on Kent.
Australian-born Lech brings twenty-years’ experience with him to the new role. Completing his training at The Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel, Lech moved from Chef De Partie to Head Chef at InterContinental, Sydney and, more recently, part of the pre-opening team of three new restaurants in the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney with Trippas White Group.
Time spent in London at Hilton Park Lane and the five-star country resort, The Grove gave Stephen the experience of running a large buffet – producing a la carte dishes and organising outdoor catering events for up to five hundred guests.
“The Langham, Sydney was recently named best boutique hotel in Australia, so it’s a huge privilege to start this position as Executive Chef,” said Lech. “My primary focus will be on Kitchens on Kent. I’m excited to build on the culinary excitement, variety and theatre that the restaurant already delivers, but hope to bring my passion for creating dynamic cuisine for people to enjoy. I love the concept of a buffet where the team has the opportunity to create dishes from all across the globe, with a strong focus on local produce. The more passion and creativity we put into our dishes, the better the experience for our customers and keeps them coming back for more.”
