The Sebel opens in Melbourne’s Kew

Accor has expanded its Sebel portfolio with the opening of The Sebel Melbourne Kew, strengthening its presence in one of Melbourne’s most sought-after suburbs.

The rebranded property, formerly known as Hotel 115, marks The Sebel’s ninth hotel in Victoria and its 35th in Australia and New Zealand.

A new chapter for Kew hospitality

The property’s transition to The Sebel follows a franchise agreement between Accor and Regional Accommodation Group (RA Group). This marks RA Group’s first city-based hotel, complementing its portfolio of eight regional properties across New South Wales, Victoria, and Queensland. As part of the rebranding, the hotel’s lobby and reception will undergo extensive refurbishments, with further upgrades to accommodation planned.

“We are thrilled to welcome The Sebel Melbourne Kew to our extensive network of hotels in Melbourne’s city centre and suburbs. This addition perfectly complements our portfolio in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, providing an exceptional base for both corporate and leisure travellers,” said Adrian Williams, Accor Pacific Chief Operating Officer PM&E. “With Melbourne’s calendar of iconic events, including the Australian Open, Boxing Day Test, and Australian Grand Prix, Kew offers the perfect base with its convenient city connections, leafy charm, vibrant village atmosphere, and outstanding cafes, bars, and boutique shops.

“The hotel will benefit from Accor’s unparalleled strength in distribution and loyalty. This will help boost bookings from both corporate and leisure travel segments.”

Premium accommodation and event spaces

Located just 6km east of Melbourne’s CBD, The Sebel Melbourne Kew offers 89 hotel rooms and 23 one- and two-bedroom apartments. The property caters to long-stay guests, business travellers, families, and conference groups.

A key highlight is its function space, which can accommodate up to 130 delegates for cocktail events or 80 guests for banquets. This makes it an attractive venue for corporate gatherings, weddings, and social events in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.

A prime location in Melbourne’s east

Kew is known for its blend of heritage charm, tree-lined streets, and boutique shopping and dining. The area is well connected to the city via the Eastern Freeway and direct tram services, offering convenience and accessibility for travellers.

RA Group Managing Director Dominic Quilligan said, “Branding the property as The Sebel was central to the deal. My team is excited to work with Accor to utilise their knowledge and experience of the inner-city Melbourne market, as well as to witness the expected significant uplift in the property’s performance through Accor’s established distribution channels and marketing machine.”

Exclusive opening offer

To celebrate its opening, The Sebel Melbourne Kew is offering 15 per cent off stays, with prices starting from $152 per night. The offer is valid for bookings made until 20 February 2025, for stays until 20 June 2025.
