Thrifty has launched a car subscription service in Australia, offering customers access to vehicles from $999 per month without the longer-term commitment associated with purchasing or leasing.
Thrifty YourRide combines the vehicle, registration, servicing and roadside assistance into a single monthly payment, with the product positioned for Australians and international visitors whose transport requirements may change over time.
Thrifty YourRide targets flexible mobility market
Subscriptions have a minimum term of 90 days before moving to a rolling monthly arrangement, with 1,500 kilometres included each month and one additional driver permitted.
Customers can also swap vehicles during their subscription period, providing flexibility for people whose travel, work or family requirements change.
Damien Shaw, VP Thrifty APAC, said flexibility was becoming increasingly important for customers considering alternatives to traditional vehicle ownership.
“Not everyone wants the long-term commitment that comes with owning a car. For many people, flexibility matters more,” Shaw said.
“Thrifty YourRide gives Australians access to a vehicle when they need it, with a simple monthly payment and none of the usual admin that comes with ownership.”
Fleet spans compact SUVs to premium vehicles
Thrifty YourRide offers vehicles across four pricing tiers, starting with compact SUVs such as the Mazda CX-3 and extending to family vehicles including the Toyota RAV4 and Toyota Kluger.
Premium vehicles such as the Audi Q5 are also available, while the subscription fleet includes electric and hybrid options.
Vehicles will primarily be collected from Thrifty’s city and downtown locations, with the service targeting metropolitan customers including renters, expats, urban professionals and hybrid workers.
New option for longer-stay travellers
For the Australian travel trade, the subscription model adds another ground transport option for international visitors requiring a vehicle for extended stays, particularly those who need greater flexibility than conventional leasing arrangements.
Pricing starts from $999 per month including GST, with terms and conditions applying.
