Travel Monitor, the Australian travel-trade news service that delivers the industry’s “First News of the Day” since 2009, has announced a new partnership with Travel Writers Radio, the broadcast and podcast service produced by the Professional Association of Lifestyle and Travel Writers (PALAT).
Under the partnership, Travel Monitor will host curated Travel Writers Radio podcasts on its website and daily e‑newsletter, giving travel agents and industry professionals immediate access to audio stories that complement their morning news feed.
Partnership Overview
Travel Monitor has recently been acquired by travel journalist Kate Webster through Captured Travel Media Pty Ltd. Kate Webster, who has worked with the publication for eight years, brings more than two decades of industry experience in travel consulting, airline reservations, wholesaler reservations and corporate travel. Her experience as a travel journalist and editor over the past 12 years informs the new direction of the publication, which continues its tradition of engaging experienced writers and editors.
Travel Writers Radio is produced by a team of experienced lifestyle and travel journalists and is uploaded to SoundCloud.com, allowing listeners to access stories 24 hours a day. The show is produced more than 3000 stories since its launch in 2014.
In January 2025, Travel Writers Radio ranked in the Top 10 of Feedspot’s “100 Best Travel Podcasts on the Planet”.
Feedspot.com cited the show’s relevancy, authority, social media following and freshness; the team broadcasts about six stories each week and has created an archive of more than 3000 stories over its decade of broadcasting.
How the Collaboration Works
Starting in October 2025, Travel Monitor readers will see a dedicated Travel Writers Radio podcast section embedded in the online news hub and featured in the daily e‑newsletter.
These podcasts, created specifically for TM clients will include destination features, interviews with industry personalities, and specialist segments on food, wine and lifestyle. The podcasts will also be archived on Travel Monitor’s website so that agents can revisit previous episodes.
The partnership is intended to give both brands a larger footprint: Travel Writers Radio gains direct access to Travel Monitor’s trade audience, while Travel Monitor expands beyond text to include audio storytelling.
Kate Webster, Publisher & Editor of Travel Monitor, said the agreement deepens the title’s commitment to provide timely, credible news to travel agents:
“At Travel Monitor, we pride ourselves on being the travel industry’s first news source of the day. Partnering with Travel Writers Radio allows us to add an audio dimension to that service. Our readers will now be able to hear the voices of seasoned travel journalists reporting from across the globe, which complements the written content produced by our experienced team and the Agent Masterclass resources we offer. It’s all about giving our community more ways to stay informed and inspired.”
Graeme Kemlo, Host & Executive Producer of Travel Writers Radio, welcomed the opportunity to reach more of the travel trade.
“We tell the stories of the people behind the news – whether that’s lifestyle, business, or incentive travel. TWR was established more than 10 years ago on an ethos of storytelling. Behind TWR is a team of professional travel journalists with more than 150 years of experience. Our stories not only inform listeners but also inspire potential travellers.
“We have put more than 3000 stories to air so far and we look forward to extending our reach by talking to even more key participants across all segments of the travel industry. We receive wonderful feedback from the trade, and they like that they can tell their story in their own words.”
