Virgin Australia has officially launched its inaugural Brisbane to Doha service, marking a major step in the airline’s international comeback and unlocking access to over 170 destinations via Qatar Airways’ extensive global network.
The new route, which took off on 19 June, is part of Virgin Australia’s long-haul strategy under its alliance with Qatar Airways. Following the recent Sydney launch and with Perth and Melbourne flights to follow, this expansion is set to deliver over 2.65 million annual seats between Australia and Doha by December 2025.
Passengers will fly aboard Qatar Airways’ Boeing 777 aircraft, featuring award-winning Qsuite Business Class and spacious Economy cabins. The service also includes complimentary high-speed Starlink Wi-Fi.
Boosting tourism and rewards
The alliance is projected to generate more than $3 billion for the Australian economy over five years and create hundreds of new jobs. Virgin Australia Velocity members booking eligible Brisbane–Doha flights between 12 and 30 June 2025 for travel between 1 October 2025 and 27 May 2026 will earn a 50 per cent Status Credit bonus, contributing to the new loyalty status requirements.
To celebrate the launch, Virgin Australia is offering up to 15 per cent off fares to Doha and select European destinations for travel between 16 October 2025 and 31 March 2026.
