Yesterday, with rising outbreaks of community transmission in Victoria, Premier Daniel Andrews announced an extension of the current lockdown which was due to end today.
The state currently has thousands of close contacts linked to the MCG, AAMI Park, Trinity Grammar, Bacchus Marsh Grammar and Ms Frankie Restaurant in Cremorne.
Saying that it ‘would not be the right thing to do’ to lift lockdown today amid growing community transmission numbers, Mr Andrews said if he was to end lockdown early “It would be perhaps a few days of sunshine, and then there’s a very high chance we’d be back in lockdown again. That’s what I’m trying to avoid.”
