Vietjet confirms Western Sydney–Ho Chi Minh City route

Vietjet will launch a new Western Sydney–Ho Chi Minh City service on 10 January 2027, adding a fifth Australian connection point as the airline strengthens its aircraft maintenance and technology capabilities ahead of the route’s start.

New route adds fifth Australian gateway

The service creates another direct link between Vietnam and Australia, joining Vietjet’s existing connections to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth since the airline launched Australian services in 2023. Vietjet will also launch its first service to Europe this October, alongside new routes connecting Vietnam with Sri Lanka, Thailand, Singapore, Japan and other markets.

Maintenance agreements support fleet expansion

Ahead of the new route, Vietjet has signed a Repair-By-The-Hour agreement with Thales covering component maintenance for its Airbus fleet, including A320/A321, A321neo/A321XLR, A330 and A330neo aircraft, alongside a separate memorandum of understanding covering digital aviation, cybersecurity and AI-enabled operations.

Vietjet has also signed a letter of intent with CFM International to assess the feasibility of developing LEAP engine maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Vietnam, building on a partnership dating back to 2014. The agreement is relevant to Vietjet’s 200-aircraft Boeing 737-8 order, which includes aircraft powered by CFM LEAP-1B engines.

The investments form part of the operational groundwork supporting Vietjet’s expanding international network across Australia, Asia-Pacific and beyond.
