Virgin Australia launches Queensland fare sale from $69

Virgin Australia has launched a Queensland-focused domestic sale with one-way Economy Lite fares starting at $69, covering routes to the Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, the Whitsundays and Brisbane, running until 11:59pm AEST on 6 September 2026.

Sale spans routes from most major Australian cities

Fare examples include Sydney to Gold Coast from $69, Sydney to Sunshine Coast from $75, Brisbane to Cairns from $95, and Melbourne to Gold Coast from $95. Other routes include Sydney to Brisbane from $109, Adelaide to Gold Coast from $119, Brisbane to Hamilton Island from $125, Melbourne to Cairns from $139, and Perth to Brisbane from $249. All fares are one-way, Economy Lite, valid in both directions and available for travel between 5 January and 22 June 2027, subject to availability.

Libby Minogue, Virgin Australia’s chief marketing and sustainability officer, said the sale offers value across both summer and winter periods. “With the sale covering travel across summer through to winter, there’s great value on offer for travellers to make the most of Queensland’s warmer climate,” Minogue said.

Sale backed by Queensland tourism minister

Andrew Powell, Queensland’s Minister for Tourism, said the sale supports the state’s positioning as Australia’s leading holiday destination. Economy Lite fares do not include seat selection or checked baggage, are non-refundable, and carry fees for cancellations or changes.

For agents selling domestic Queensland product, the sale gives a concrete price point to promote across a wide range of departure cities and travel dates spanning nearly six months, useful for clients planning ahead for family reunions, winter sun escapes or short breaks across the 2027 travel window.
