Virgin Voyages, Richard Branson’s boutique, kid-free cruise line, has announced a milestone year with record-breaking sales and triple-digit revenue growth.
Black Friday 2024 marked the company’s highest booking day in history, while Cyber Monday and Travel Tuesday drove a 300 per cent increase in both bookings and revenue compared to the same period last year.
Triple-digit growth and strong projections
Virgin Voyages achieved a more than 60 per cent increase in revenue growth from 2023, with 2025 projected to surpass 2024 by an additional 50 per cent. These achievements set the stage for a highly anticipated wave season that is expected to break even more records.
‘Breaking records would not have been possible without our loyal customers and travel agent community,’ said Virgin Voyages CEO Nirmal Saverimuttu. ‘We’re committed to offering incredible value with inclusions such as Wi-Fi, specialty dining, fitness classes, and more – all without hidden fees.’
Exciting new itineraries and innovations
Virgin Voyages has seen a surge in demand for its new Alaska itineraries, longer voyages to destinations like Iceland, and unique experiences such as solar eclipse sailings in 2026. The brand’s recently introduced Annual Pass, which allows travellers to hop on and off any ship year-round, has garnered significant global interest and is expected to sell out before the end of 2024.
In 2025, Virgin Voyages will debut its newest ship, Brilliant Lady, and introduce new home ports in New York, Los Angeles, and Seattle. Fleet-wide updates will also bring fresh dining concepts like Lucky Lotus and expanded entertainment offerings, including new production shows, live music, and comedy.
A favourite for first-timers and repeat travellers
Virgin Voyages continues to attract a growing audience, with over 70 per cent of Black Friday and Cyber Monday bookings coming from new customers, including many first-time cruisers. Additionally, repeat travellers account for up to 60 per cent of passengers on some voyages, underscoring the brand’s appeal for those seeking adult-only holidays.
‘We’re proud to be the brand of choice for travellers looking for a fresh, price-inclusive travel experience,’ said Saverimuttu.
Industry accolades
Capping off a successful year, Virgin Voyages won top honours in both the Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards and Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards for the second consecutive year. The cruise line also made history as the first to sweep all categories in the 2023 Cruise Critic awards.
