Visit Sunshine Coast and JQ celebrate new AKL route

Visit Sunshine Coast, in partnership with Jetstar New Zealand, hosted key Auckland trade partners to celebrate the upcoming launch of Jetstar’s year-round direct service between Auckland and Maroochydore.

A first for the Sunshine Coast

Launching this Friday, 13 December, the new direct flights are the first year-round service connecting Auckland to the Sunshine Coast. The flights will operate three times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, adding over 58,000 low-fare seats annually between the two destinations.

This service complements Air New Zealand’s seasonal direct flights during the winter months, providing greater accessibility for Kiwi travellers to experience the Sunshine Coast.

Trade partners treated to a special celebration

Visit Sunshine Coast’s Trade and International Manager, Emily Zinowki, hosted the Auckland event alongside Jetstar New Zealand representatives. The luncheon brought together key trade partners from leading travel agencies, including Flight Centre, House of Travel, Go Holidays, and First Travel Group, to highlight the benefits of this new connection.

Promoting legendary Sunshine Moments

In anticipation of the launch, Visit Sunshine Coast has rolled out its largest-ever New Zealand promotional campaign, inviting travellers to ‘fly direct’ and discover the Sunshine Coast’s legendary Sunshine Moments. From stunning beaches to iconic hinterland experiences, the campaign aims to inspire Kiwis to make the most of this convenient new travel option.

The inaugural Jetstar flight marks a milestone in strengthening tourism ties between New Zealand and the Sunshine Coast, promising a boost to both destinations’ travel and tourism industries.
